You have read earlier on the extensive effort and money involved in upgrading bora headlight to OEM HID. With the investment made, it is prudent to invest alittle more on a set of headlight protector to protect the headlight lens from any stone chips and cracks while on the road.
But of course, if you would like to protect your normal halogen headlights, nothing can stop you, since every part of our car are precious assets that any damages, no matter how minor they are, are a heartache to us!
These high quality protector are actually parts from Australia VW dealers. Although I have purchased this from a US online VW accesories dealer, you can have your friends at Down Under to ask the dealer there on your behalf, and you may save some dollars, who knows!
The protectors are made of high quality acryllic material, and are mounted by placing an attaching hook (on the top of cover) to the top of headlight. The cover is then secured by clipping two attaching clips (at the bottom of cover) to the bottom of headlight, in between the headlight and the bumper, as shown.

Hello Zen,
I was wondering where did you get those HIDs? Its OEM right? Is it available at volkswagen Singapore?? I’m from brunei and its hard to get OEM Hids here, well anywhere, i heard Bosch or Automotive lighting don’t make it anymore, and is the HID plug and play?? or do you also need an autoleveling ECU for the headlights? well i looked up to some shops and they say you’ll need extras for the HIDs to work.

yes it’s OEM, I got it from XinZhong in Singapore, they are VW parts dealer. It’s not really plug and play because you need to modify the harness so that you can plug it in. Alternatively, you can pop by vwvortex.com, and check if anybody is selling the harness adapter, so that you can just plug and play. My setup doesn’t have autolevelling, because that’ll mean you need to install sensor in the suspension and will be a major job.

Really its OEM?? Bosch right? Woa, Must be a fortune to buy those HIDs, how much altogether did you spend on installing it? i’m having a headache on how to get those lights instead of the original Hella, been trying to find them for a long time, I’ll try and check XinZhong to see how it goes whether they still sell them, So Zen you’re still using your bora?? Yes it’s the Bosch one (while Hella makes the halogen headlamp) Cost me total S$1700 for the parts alone. Installation was easy for me luckily because my mechanic was quite a guru in figuring out the wiring, and he doesn’t charge me a bomb just because he has to do the figuring & modification himself. But he’s no longer in Singapore.

Yeah but I miss the personalisation I had done on my car. If only it’s a 1.8T I probably would be holding it for a longer while.

Do you know a part number, a serial numer for those protectors. Are these vw original? cause then they have a part number that can be found/orderd anywhere on the word

@Fluxy, sorry it’s been a long while so I can’t tell exactly the part number for these protectors. But these are definitely vw original.
